Sacred Heart Network Experiences

Grade 4 Pen-Pal Program
Fourth graders build friendships across the Network of Sacred Heart Schools through a year-long pen-pal exchange with students at the Sacred Heart school on Sheridan Road in Chicago. Throughout the year they write letters, share stories, and learn about life in another Sacred Heart community. The experience culminates in an overnight trip to Chicago, where students visit city landmarks and finally meet their pen pals in person.

Grade 6 St. Louis Trip
Each year Grade 6 students travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to explore the roots of the Society of the Sacred Heart in the United States. They visit the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles, the first Sacred Heart school in the country, and other historic sites tied to St. Rose Philippine Duchesne. The experience deepens their understanding of Sacred Heart history and mission while strengthening friendships and class community.

Network Exchange
Eligible Grade 8 and Grade 10 students can spend several weeks at another Sacred Heart school, living with a host family and later welcoming their exchange partner to Bloomfield Hills. This one-to-one reciprocal program gives students an authentic look at another culture and school community while building lifelong friendships and a deeper appreciation for our shared Sacred Heart values.

Sacred Heart Summits
Every few years, schools in the Sacred Heart Network come together for the Sacred Heart Summit—a gathering of students, faculty, alumnae/i, and mission partners to learn, share, and plan action toward justice and positive change. In past Summits, participants have tackled issues like sustainability, polarization, and global equity, then brought home projects that reflect their school's mission.
