Greetings Alumnae and Alumni! Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year. We are pleased to introduce some changes to the Alumnae Board. Last year, we kicked off a Regional Representative program in Chicago and New York to help cultivate the Sacred Heart spirit amongst alumnae and alumni in these regions through social and community service events. We are pleased to expand this program by adding two Regional Representatives in Boston: Celeste Laramie Burris’02 and Jessica Willhoft’02.
Last year, we instituted a Class Agent program to help foster communication between the school and our alumnae. Class Agents help provide a personal touch from a fellow class member when communicating about upcoming events or sharing news. We were successful in obtaining a number of Class Agents, but we still need more. Ideally, we’d like a Class Agent for each graduation year. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about the Class Agent program, please contact Sandra Shargabian’02 at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community in Action Day will again take place in the fall. We will have events in Metro Detroit, New York and Boston. On October 4, Sacred Heart alumnae and alumni can participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities, including events at the DTE Garden Site, Forgotten Harvest, and the Hazel Park Animal Shelter, as well as three on-campus service opportunities. Click here to read more about the service experiences. To sign up for an in-state (Michigan) service placement, click here and submit the online form before September 22. We are grateful to Alumnae Board member Kate Karpinski Brune’04 for organizing this year’s event!
Please consider involvement in some of the Christmas traditions, including:
- The Alumnae and Parents of Graduates Benefit Gift Gathering on November 20
- The Benefit Holiday Party on December 5
- Advent by Candlelight on December 8
- A mother-and-alumnae shopping event at Leon and Lulu in Clawson on December 10
- The Alumnae and Alumni Christmas Eve mass on December 24
These holiday traditions provide a festive way to reconnect with the school.
Finally, I’d like to remind you to donate to Annual Giving. Alumnae and Alumni participation is crucial this year as we seek grants and continue funding projects and activities that made our own Sacred Heart experience so unique. You may donate to Annual Giving through the mail or by clicking here.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy start to the 2014-2015 school year,
Erin Reynolds ‘97
President of the Alumnae and Alumni Association
