Latin I is an introductory Latin course which will allow the students to delve into the Roman world via the Latin language. The curriculum focuses on the reading method of Latin instruction which means that the students learn the language by means of reading texts and deducing the grammatical constructs. This is different than the traditional philological approach which focused first on grammar and then reading. The students begin reading amended Latin literature on the first day. The curriculum doesn't focus on the so-called "Golden Age" of Latin literature; rather, the curriculum explores Latin chronologically, beginning with the foudnational myth of the city of Rome, and ending with various readings of Medieval Latin.
