The varsity tennis team recently won the regional championship, making this the sixth consecutive year. This year, all eight flights were champions! Good luck to the Gazelles as they compete in the state tournament on May 29 and 30!

Dr. Linnea Smith to Speak on Tuesday, May 12

Linnea Smith, M.D., author of La Doctora: An American Doctor in the Amazon, will speak at ASH on Tuesday, May 12 during "A Night of Exploration." For many years, Upper School students and faculty have traveled to the area as volunteers during Project Term, and the evening's activities will benefit La Clinica Yanamono and Sawyer Water Filter Systems. Local Students Invited to May 15 Sports Night

Students in Grades 3-6 are invited to attend a Sports Night on Friday, May 15 from 6-8 p.m. The event promises to be a fun evening of soccer, football, ultimate Frisbee and basketball. The $10 entrance fee includes a pizza dinner. Learn more and register here.

Thank you to everyone who made the inaugural Day of Service a success! Together, students, faculty and staff celebrated Earth Day 2015 by serving others on campus and at Belle Isle Park. 2015 Valedictorians, Salutatorians Named

The Academy of the Sacred Heart is proud to recognize Lauren Dumas and Sarah Panone (pictured) as co-valedictorians of the Class of 2015, and Amanda Petzold and Bailey Seklar as co-salutatorians. The valedictory address will be given during the commencement exercises on June 11, with the salutatorians' address presented at Prize Day that morning. Day of Service to Put 1,000 Hands to Work in the Community

On Wednesday, April 22, ASH will launch a school-wide Day of Service where all students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, together with faculty and staff, will participate in on- and off-campus community service opportunities. More than 400 students and 100 faculty and staff are expected to participate in the day’s activities. Read press release

Katie Fabian '16 is Regional All-Around Gymnastics Champion

After placing first in All-Around and Balance Beam, second in Vault and Floor, and third in Uneven Bars at the MHSAA's gymnastics regionals, Katharine Fabian was named the Division I All-Around Gymnastics Champion for Region 4. Coach Allyson Pfeifer said Katie "is the greatest comeback story in my experience ... At last year's championship meet, I had to carry her off the floor with a broken ankle ... She and I had a plan from the season's start and with all her hard work, it actually paid off."


Meritor Grant Funds 11 Robots for Upper School

Meritor, Inc. presented a $10,000 grant to ASH to enhance the robotics curriculum. Last year, ASH introduced a robotics requirement for all ninth-graders, providing students with an early exposure to engineering and programming. Initially, an average of four students worked on a single robot. Using the grant from Meritor, the school purchased 11 VEX robotic kits, improving the student-to-robot ratio to 2:1. Read more
