The Academy of the Sacred Heart’s 11th Hour Theatre Company welcomes the public to attend its production of John Patrick’s “A Bad Year for Tomatoes” on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. Michigan High School Coach of the Year!

Tennis coach Judith Hehs was honored by the Michigan High School Coaches Association on November 8 as the 2015 Coach of the Year in Girls Tennis. With this award came the announcement of the nomination for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association National Coach of the Year and the National Federation Coaches Association National Coach of the Year Awards. The sectional winners, finalists and national Coach of the Year honorees will be announced later this year. Congratulations! 

Welcome to the Hall of Fame

On Saturday, November 7, Emily Cochran Jakacki'02 was inducted into the Michigan Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Emily was a four-year starter on the ASH varsity lacrosse team and was recruited to play lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania. Read more on the ASH Alums Facebook page.

Ice Cream for a Cause

On Monday, November 9, from 5-9 p.m., NHS members will be scooping ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery at Woodward Avenue and Square Lake Road. All contributions and 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the Sacred Heart school in Uganda. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in this sweet fundraiser!
Speakers Highlight Importance of Women in STEM

Upper School students discussed the importance of women in STEM careers with a group of industry leaders on October 23. Among the presenters were Dr. Saralyn Mark, a pioneer in women's health who serves as senior medical advisor to the Department of Health and Human Services and NASA; Keri Kukral, a former professional ballet dancer, bio-electrical engineer and founder of Raw Science TV; as well as representatives from the General Motors design team. In Remembrance of Margaret Seitz, RSCJ

The family of the Academy of the Sacred Heart remembers the gifts given to us by God in the life and service of Margaret (Marge) Seitz, RSCJ. An alumna of Lawrence Avenue, Sr. Seitz served almost 50 years in Sacred Heart education, many of them in Detroit. She will be remembered in a liturgy of the resurrection on Saturday, October 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Academy of the Sacred Heart chapel. Burial will be at the Society of the Sacred Heart cemetery at Mt. Olivet, Detroit. Read more

Field Hockey Wins Second Consecutive CHSL Championship

The Catholic High School League re-crowned the field hockey team as League Champions on Saturday, October 10. The Gazelles played Marian High School for the third consecutive year. The game went into overtime, and then a shoot-out, tied 2-2. At the conclusion of the shoot-out, the Gazelles came out on top, 2-1. Congratulations!

Fall for ASH on October 11

On Sunday, October 11 from 1-3 p.m., the Academy of the Sacred Heart will host its first open house of the 2015-2016 school year, inviting prospective families to "Fall for ASH." This all-school open house is intended for for boys, birth through Grade 8, and girls, infant through Grade 12, in the coming school year.

A Ton of Recycling

Thank you to the ASH technology department for safely recycling more than 2,000 pounds (one ton) of computer equipment. This protects confidential data as well as the environment, and is in keeping with ASH's Michigan Green School Evergreen designation. Well done!
ASH Hires Kris Sanders as Admissions Director

The Academy of the Sacred Heart has announced that Kris Sanders of Canton has been hired as Admissions Director, overseeing recruitment and retention for all age levels, infancy through Grade 12. Read press release
