Greetings Alumnae and Alumni!

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! Last year we made some exciting changes within our Alumnae and Alumni Association, including new roles and new events. This year we join with the entire school community in reinforcing Goal IV, “The building of community as a Christian value,” by emphasizing this Goal in all our events and striving to make our board roles even stronger!

This year will have a renewed focus on alumnae networking with Marla Schwaller Carew’86 and Cayce Karpinski Kosch’08 continuing the process of the Sacred Heart Alumnae Business Network – “a network of leaders.” Strengthening the connection of the alumnae and alumni members with our school and with the network of Sacred Heart schools is also important. The Alumnae and Alumni Board is pleased to announce Sean CarrKH’06 as the Kensington Hall Chair and expand the positions of Kate Karpinski Brune’04 and Alexis Krot’96 to encompass AASH (national association) as well as AMASC (international association).

Our Class Agent program helps foster communication between the school and our alumnae. Class Agents provide a personal touch from a fellow class member when communicating about upcoming events or sharing news.  We gained a number of Class Agents, but we still need more. Ideally, we’d like one Class Agent per graduating year. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about the Class Agent program, please contact Sandra Shargabian’02 at

The 15th annual Community in Action Day will take place in the fall. On Saturday, October 3, you can participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities, including events at the DTE Garden Site, God’s Helping Hands, and the Hazel Park Animal Shelter, as well as two on-campus service opportunities. Read more about the service experiences here, and then register for a placement here by Monday, September 21.

You can also reconnect with the school during our festive holiday traditions, including:

  • The Alumnae and Parents of Graduates Benefit Gift Gathering on Wednesday, November 4
  • A mother-and-alumnae shopping event at Leon and Lulu in Clawson on Monday, November 23
  • Advent by Candlelight on Wednesday, December 2
  • The Benefit Holiday Party on Friday, December 4
  • The Alumnae and Alumni Christmas Eve mass on Thursday, December 24.

Finally, I’d like to remind you to donate to Annual Giving. Alumnae and Alumni participation is crucial this year as we seek grants and continue funding projects and activities that made our own Sacred Heart experience so unique. You may donate to Annual Giving through the mail or by clicking here

Best wishes for a happy, healthy start to the 2015-2016 school year,

Erin Reynolds Skorupski'97
President of the Alumnae and Alumni Association
