I said this to the Upper School parents for Curriculum Night and I think I struck a chord. As a parent, I remember questioning myself regularly. Do other parents lose their temper like I do? Do other children talk back to their parents like mine do? Do other children actually do chores thoroughly and with joy? Do other parents constantly wonder how to balance micromanaging their child and letting their child make their own decisions and suffer the consequences that accompany such a privilege? Am I crazy, or have these kids taken the remains of my sanity?
We are stronger as parents when we share our collective experience. And at Academy of the Sacred Heart, we have a community (Goal 4) that enjoys socializing. We have a community that celebrates together. We have a community that prays together (above, members of the school leadership and Provincial teams with me at Mass of the Holy Spirit). We have a community that grows together (sometimes for as many as 18 years). And we have a community that is a family. You are not alone. I urge you to use the Sacred Heart family to lessen the burden of love that is parenting. New & Improved, Thanks to You! I hope you have noticed the work that the ASH faculty and staff have put into the our school facility and learning spaces. The teachers have taken great pride in organizing their classrooms to be welcoming and comfortable spaces. Learning Community Leaders have worked to update corridors and professionalize office spaces. The new LED lighting, funded and installed last year by the Booster Club, has brightened up our gyms. Sophie the SMART Car (above, a gift from a generous donor four years ago) was cleverly branded by the marketing team, and has been a fun and locally-visible mobile billboard for ASH.
As you'll see in the following article, the Learning Support Program, housed in the new Learning Lab, is another stride forward for Academy of the Sacred Heart. We are able to move ahead confidently, creating exceptional environments for your children, thanks to the generosity of the ASH community - current families, alums, parents of graduates, friends and our own faculty and staff. Watch for information on our Annual Giving program to arrive in your mailboxes next month. Your contributions are essential in providing the #ASHDifference to our students, and I am truly grateful for the many ways you support each Child of the Sacred Heart.
