FEATURED STORY:

All-School Representative Election Results

Image

After a series of events, including an interview with the Dean of Students, several days of campaigning with posters and flyers, a Fishbowl Q&A session with the whole Upper School and the eighth grade, and an election speech given before ballots were cast, the Upper School is proud to announce the election of Meaghan Emmi '19 (above, left) as the All-School Representative for the 2018-2019 school year.

Meaghan, a student at Sacred Heart since ninth grade, ran against Grace Doakes (above, right), quite a formidable opponent and classmate. Both of them ran excellent campaigns, complete with posters and slogans that adorned wall space in the corridors. They also presented themselves well during the "Fishbowl," which required them to reflect on a series of predetermined questions drawn from a fishbowl. The campaigning culminated with each candidate offering a speech, highlighting her experience at Sacred Heart and projecting how she would be a good reprentative for the school community. This election was particularly meaningful to Meaghan, who had looked up to Molly Lynch '16, who was the All-School Rep when Meaghan was a freshman.

We would again like to congratulate Meaghan Emmi on being elected as All-School Representative for the 2018-2019 academic year and to thank senior Claire Kobold-Vettraino (above, center) for her year of leadership as this year's All-School Rep.

PAASH NEWS

Scrip Sales

PAASH scrip sales continue on Monday mornings in May. Remember, the scrip program allows you to purchase gift cards for national and local retailers while helping the school. You pay the face value for the gift card, but PAASH will get a percentage of the sale. Join PAASH this Monday, May 7; Monday, May 14; and/or Monday, May 21 between 7 and 9 a.m. in the Cyber Cafe to learn more about the program and/or place an order.

Put Your Used Uniforms to Good Use!

Perhaps your child has outgrown this year's uniforms, or your soon-to-be graduate has no use for his/her blazer. If so, please consider donating these items to PAASH for a used uniform sale. Whether you have jumpers, skirts, shirts, pants, sweaters, PE clothes or other ASH gear, donating your child's gently-used uniforms will help others in our community and won't clutter your closet. PAASH requests you simply drop items off at the Field House, labeled "PAASH Used Uniform Sale" by Tuesday, May 15.

Faculty/Staff Prize Day

On Friday, June 15, PAASH will host the Faculty/Staff Prize Day to express our sincere appreciation for all that these talented professionals have done for our children throughout the school year. In order to prepare for this luncheon and purchase gifts ("prizes") for our faculty and staff, we kindly ask for your support with a donation of $25 or more from each family in order to cover the costs. We typically host approximately 120-150 faculty and staff and request this donation to show our continued thanks.

Checks may be made payable to PAASH, noting Faculty/Staff Prize Day, and it can be mailed to the school (labeled attn: PAASH), or delivered to the Field House. For planning purposes, we would appreciate receiving donations no later than June 1. We will use your donations to purchase gift cards through the Scrips program so that your donation is stretched even further to support ASH. The Advancement Office will send you an in-kind donation letter for your support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Michelle Jonna at michellejonna@mac.com or at 248-755-3543. We thank you for you continued support of our dedicated faculty and staff.
