Alumnae/i Association
Although the Academy of the Sacred Heart was founded in Detroit in 1851, the Alumnae Association was organized in 1899. The original preamble of the alumnae constitution states its purpose as "keeping in close relations to our Alma Mater, and also of the cultivating, in union, the moral and intellectual improvements, of which the foundation was laid within her walls.”
Today, the Alumnae and Alumni Association focuses on broadening communications, strengthening relationships and promoting participation among more than 1,700 alumnae and alumni. Emphasis is also placed on cultivating an association with students in preparation for their involvement after graduation. June 2005 signaled the first group graduating from the middle school for boys, now called Kensington Hall, and the addition of these alumni was heralded as a historically important occasion.

National and International Connections
Our alumni have an exceptional commitment to the national (AASH) and the international (AMASC) associations. A significant effort to collaborate in the mission of St. Madeleine Sophie also extends to supporting the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and the U.S. Provincial Team.
The Sacred Heart Alumnae/i Association has had three members serve on the Associated Alumnae of the Sacred Heart Board (the national board), and Barbara Brown Lopiccolo ’62 is the former Vice President of the Worldwide Association of Alumnae and Alumni of the Sacred Heart (AMASC).
