Welcome Home

Dear Fellow Alums,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. Over the summer, we welcomed our new Interim Head of School, Damian Hermann. The Alum Board looks forward to working with Mr. Hermann and for you to meet and get to know him.

This fall, we also welcome into our community many Ladywood High School students whose former school closed its doors in June. The senior class will now have 57 students, which must be a record for our school! We look forward to assisting these new students in this time of transition, sharing our traditions and mission, and involving them in the alum community as they graduate.

This Bicentennial year, which has celebrated St. Philippine’s arrival in North America, concludes with events taking place over the weekend of November 17-18 in St. Charles, MO.  Saturday's agenda will include business and Regional meetings, a presentation by Connie Solari, author of "Sophie's Fire," and a cocktail reception. The Bicentennial closing Mass and Feast Day celebration of St. Philippine will take place on Sunday at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis with a reception to follow. Please consider participating in this very special celebration. For details regarding accomodations, please see the AASH website. In addition, I encourage you to view this video produced by our own alum, Roselie Bellanca Posselius '77 and her colleague, J.C. Whitelaw, in honor of the bicentennial.

Planning for this year's alum events is underway; you may view our alum calendar here. Among the many activities offered, we invite you to join the Children of Mary sodality, and gather with the larger school community for Feast Day masses. The Calendar section of the website provides a comprehensive listing of events throughout the school.

As you contemplate your charitable giving for this year, please remember Sacred Heart.  We have the chance to share the #ASHDifference with the next generation – and we each know the impact of this world-class education in our formation and in our connections with one another and our fellow Children of the Sacred Heart around the globe.

I wish you a safe and enjoyable school year.

In the heart,
Andrea Briefs-Ferris '75
