Greetings Alumnae and Alumni!
As we kick off the 2013-2014 school year, we are pleased to introduce some changes to the Alumnae Board. In order to provide more opportunity for our alumnae and alumni to stay connected to the Sacred Heart community, we are welcoming Emily Cochran Jakacki’02 and Lisa Goecke’97 as our Chicago Regional Representatives and Megan Tennyson’00 as our New York Regional Representative. These alumnae will help cultivate the Sacred Heart spirit amongst alumnae in these regions through social and community service events. Stay tuned for more information on alumnae events in Chicago and New York.
Community in Action Day, which typically is held in the winter of each year, is moving to the fall. On October 19, 2013, alumnae and alumni can register for a variety of community volunteer opportunities. This year’s off-campus events include volunteering at the DTE Garden Site, Forgotten Harvest and the Hazel Park Animal Shelter. The volunteer opportunities offered on campus include cleaning up our school grounds and knitting squares for afghans that will be given to someone in need. Registration information will be available in the upcoming weeks. We are grateful to Alumnae Board member Kate Karpinski Brune’04 for organizing this year’s event!
Please consider involvement in some of the seasonal traditions, including the Alumnae Benefit Gift Gathering on November 21, Advent by Candlelight on December 4, a mother-and-alumnae shopping event at Leon and Lulu in Clawson on December 10, and the Alumnae Christmas Eve Liturgy on December 24. These holiday traditions provide a festive way to reconnect with the school.
Finally, I’d like to remind you of the importance of your contribution to Annual Giving. Alumnae and alumni participation is crucial this year as we seek grants and continue funding projects and activities that made our own Sacred Heart experience so unique. You may donate to Annual Giving through the mail or by clicking here. Remember, you are able to earmark your donation for scholarships for children of alumnae by donating to the Heart to Heart Fund.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy start to the 2013-2014 school year,
Erin Reynolds ‘97
President of the Alumnae and Alumni Association
